Health, wellness and vitality are the drivers behind Inner Glow Acupuncture. Life is a journey and sometimes, the journey to health and well being needs a gentle hand. This is where we come in.
Our Mission
To provide the best holistic treatment experience for clients with acupuncture, Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
““It is no longer possible to say that the effectiveness of acupuncture can be attributed to the placebo effect or that it is useful only for musculoskeletal pain.””
Acupuncture and Qigong have been used for Thousands of Years to facilitate wellness and promote Healing.
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is the placement of very fine, sterile, single use stainless steel needles into specific areas of the body to stimulate the movement of Qi (vital energy) and thereby encourage the body to harmonise its various systems to promote good health. The body is actively trying to bring about a state of balance, otherwise known as ‘homeostasis’. Traditional Chinese medicine works along the theory of energetic channels in the body with the understanding that when these channels get blocked (from trauma, emotions, poor lifestyle, etc.), they result in stagnation and therefore pain, discomfort and/or symptoms of ill health. Acupuncture works with the body’s natural mechanisms to facilitate the body’s natural balancing act and bring you back towards a state of optimum health.
Is it Safe?
Acupuncture is a safe and well used practise that is thousands of years old. So long as you see a fully qualified practitioner, who uses safe, needling techniques, you will be in good hands. Our needling techniques are gentle, calming and restorative.
Are There any Negative Side Effects?
There is a risk of bruising. Sometimes you can feel a little tired after treatment but this is your body processing the treatment and getting to work on restoring you to a balanced state so this is perfectly normal. If you feel tired or notice any particular changes, notify your acupuncturist immediately so that we can monitor your progress.
It is also a good idea to have something in your tummy before coming for acupuncture treatment as your blood sugar levels can dip during treatment. Make sure not to be too full however as it may be uncomfortable lying down and we need your body to put energy in to healing - not digesting your lunch!
Also, if you have any major health conditions, or are pregnant, please notify your practitioner so that she can adjust the treatment accordingly.
*Please note that we will not treat people who are intoxicated.
What is Qigong?
Qigong, roughly translated, means the cultivation and manipulation of Qi, energy, or our life-force. It is one of five branches of traditional Chinese medicine, including acupuncture and is based on the same theoretical medical principles.
Qigong treatments involve a full consultation, including medical history, pertinent clinical information, traditional Chinese medical diagnosis and treatment. The patient generally lies on the table in a comfortable position whilst their energetic channels are cleared of blockages to restore flow and a sense of calmness, balance and wellbeing.
